A little dolphin statue…

You might ask what that has to do with cars on Tiny Tuesday. Well not sure it’s tiny but it’s very small for a dolphin.
There’s a tiny little one seater car that I often see around town but not today! It reminds me of the Isetta which opened from the front. A colleague of mine used to have one; he was a fairly large man so it was amazing that he could fit in it!
I did consider a toy car; do they still make Dinky and Corgi toys? But eventually settled for one of the dolphin statues. As I was choosing my pic I had MonoMonday in my head so you have it in full black and white.
Now in the old days I could have popped into the shop in the pic and making sure that I didn’t touch anything or lean over the scaffolding pole barrier I could snap a pic of some tiny cars. I’d only get away with it because the old lady would never have thought that I could take a photograph with the tiny thing I held in my hand! Only Guernsey people will have memories of Baker’s Bazaar but that is my tenuous connection between today’s pic and small cars.
And I don’t expect praise for such a tenuous connection because flattery will get you nowhere!
And that is my saying of the day.

The phrase "flattery will get you nowhere" is a common idiom used to express that excessive compliments or praise will not be persuasive or effective in achieving a desired outcome. It implies a skepticism towards flattery and suggests that the recipient is not easily swayed by insincere praise. The phrase is often used as a humorous or dismissive response to someone who is attempting to flatter.

The idiom is a reversal of a saying used by early film stars who would jokingly respond to compliments by saying, "Flattery will get you everywhere". This earlier version implied a love of flattery and the potential for it to be a manipulative tool.
Essentially, "flattery will get you nowhere" is a way of saying that someone's attempt to gain favour through insincere praise is not working.
