a lifetime burning

Cornflower

A cornflower with a couple of visitors earlier this morning.

I'm finally, and it has taken the best part of 6 weeks, starting to feel more like myself again.  The dreaded chest infection is easing up and I have considerably more energy this week than last.  I even used the lawnmower to cut the back lawn this morning.  Normally this gets done by the lawn mower guy but he's in Tenerife at the moment.

That wasn't without its difficulties.  Initially the mower wouldn't start and I guessed that the petrol in it might have gone off - I don't think the mower has been used since last year.  The lawnmower guy brings his own mowers, strimmers etc.  Having gone and bought some fresh fuel, and emptied out the remnants of the old, the mower started first time and did an excellent job.

I would have cut the front lawn, but the pull starter cord broke just as I was tidying up the back lawn.  I did start to take the mower apart to see if this was a job that I could deal with there and then, but the whole top of the engine cover needs to come off, so it isn't a 30 minute task.  The front lawn looks like it will have to wait until the chap gets back from his break!
