.........................continued.
I said yesterday that would give you the details of Vic's funeral today, so here goes. While we waiting outside the crematorium. with J, & Anne, Des turned up, looking very dapper. Vic wanted us to wear colour, (no black) and no ties, so that is what we did. The service went off as planned with Vic's relatives giving their own version of Vic. Then it was off to Southerndown Golf Club, somewhere we had never been before . What an amazing place and this was the view from the clubhouse you can see Porthcawl in the distance, On arrival, we were offered tea/coffee and Welsh cakes, and a short while later we went in to the food buffet. The food was absolutely mouthwatering, and the sandwiches were the best I have ever tasted. They had corned beef pie, chicken bits, onion bhaji's quiche, meat balls ,potato salad, coleslaw. and everything was just out of this world. I spoke to the waiter standing behind the food, and complimented him on said food, and he said the sandwiches were made fifteen minutes after we arrived, and everything was cooked on site. After the food was consumed, I went to introduce my self to Vic's family. When I introduced myself to his brother & wife, and said my name, they knew who I was as Vic had told them I was the lady from the gym who made him laugh. I told them a few funny stories of things that had happened in the gym, Lovely people. I then went over to talk to his sister's, and they knew all about me as well. Vic had been married four times, and I met the last ex wife, and she had traveled from Southerhampton, with their son, for the funeral. Tina, his daughter, who looked after him at the end, was very upset, understandably so, and after we had finished eating, asked for our attention, We were all given a glass of Jack Daniels, with honey, ( Vic's favourite tipple) and we raised our glass to Vic, a true gentleman, and my very good friend. It was what he wanted. I have never drank whisky in my life, but I did today, and it was actually quite moreish. Vic would have approved.
