Small Tortoiseshell
Aglais urticae
A lovely small tortoiseshell sunning itself on a wall on Dunblane High Street. I was rushing up the road to meet some friends but I had to stop and get the camera out. Of course the butterfly didn't stay still so I ended up chasing it around various shop fronts. Not a wonderful blip but I'm just so pleased to see any butterfly. It looks as if it's lost an antenna.
Prior to this there had been a lovely but all to brief blip meet with Tryfan46 and Susan. They were making their way south from the Northlink Ferry. Unfortunately I had to leave after a quick cup of coffee to get to Dunblane.
I'm now heading home and will have a minute or two to turn around before going for a walk with a friend.
