Random People you meet in Nero No 103
I do love a chat in a coffee shop, and over the years I’ve had plenty as I love meeting all sorts of people, hearing their stories, and often getting shown pics of dogs from their phones. Stay curious, treat everyone the same and be open to listening.
Anyway, today was Colin from the Calton area of Glasgow. He arrived with a pull along case and a carrier bag dumped it at the seat and continued chatting on his burner phone in the queue for his coffee. When he sat down we caught each others eye and he mentioned the dog. The conversation was interesting! Turns out he knew the owner of the coffee shop on London Road, Outlier, that we visited last Wednesday. ‘Take my picture and show it to Stephen the next time you go and he’ll tell you about me’. Hence why I have his picture, oh and his mobile number as his friend deals in camper van refits……
He was on his way to Lossiemouth to visit his brother but stopped off in Perth to break the journey. He was wearing black socks under open toed shoes as his diabetes was bad atm, he said and then delved into his carrier bag and threw us a bag of Fudge. He told us he was Bi Polar, age 62, sold up ten pallets of lollipops he’d bought recently in Turkey to Home Bargains. I have no doubt with the conversation we had that he’s a wheeler, dealer, sharp brain, but a rogue.
Last week’s chat was from the guy that emptied his pension and bought crypto and now has a tax bill of 180k from HMRC…. Oh well….
Walked home, did some housework (boring) and more searching for a hotel in Copenhagen for two nights next week.
Oh, and absolutely loving Department Q on Netflix!
