Ramblings and Mutterings

Simply the best!

Up nice and early to do more work on this strategy I'm writing.

Managed an early power ramble as well. My CEO rang me though, so I lost track of what I was doing and did a longer walk than I had planned. Lol!

Had a good catch up with my young padawan, so she showed me some wedding and honeymoon photos. She saw the house that Freddie Mercury was born in Zanzibar. It all looked amazing and I'm super chuffed that the wedding and the honeymoon were just perfect for her.

And then to the big one. Our investors monthly portfolio company call and where they were going to announce the winners of their ESG Awards. As we're no longer on the calls because our global head stopped us, we got this special invite so I kind of hoped we'd won something. They went through the environmental, social and governance award winners and some of the big hitters were knocked out. And so to the big award and they said it was a close one, and that somebody had been nominated for a Highly Commended award. I was on tenterhooks and as my young padawan revealed later, she was pacing up and down her bedroom. The highly commended was announced and it wasn't us and then they announced the result that it was us. Whohoo!

I said a few words at the end of the call and I got a bit emotional, this was a special one to win. It's the third time in six years that we've won it, so I kind of guess it shows that we know what we're doing. Considering our global business doesn't want to learn from us, it was nice to stick two fingers up to them.

I'm dead proud of my team for all their hard work, their passion and dedication to making a difference. It is the best team that I've ever had the privilege of leading. I don't do my job to win awards, I do it to make a difference and when I eventually leave the business I can look back and say I left ESG in a better place than when I joined.

I may celebrate with a whisky tonight.

Today I am thankful for:

1.  Winning the award for the third time in six years
2.  The best damn ESG team ever
3.  An early power ramble
