Life through the lens...

Catch me if you can.

We are just back from spending a very delightful day at Yorkshire Wildlife’s reserve Brockadale near Little Smeaton, Just off the A1 south of Ferrybridge.

Brockadale’s steep slopes have never been ploughed or fertilised, resulting in rare grass - woodland habitat.
More than 320 species of plant, 450 species of moth, 30 species of butterfly and 40 species of breeding bird recorded here.including pyramidal orchids, clustered bellflower, hellebores, purple milk vetch, spring cinquefoil.

Today as well as many beautiful wild flowers ( see extra) it was full of butterflies. My favourite are always the marbled white.
Must have taken dozens of photos. Mostly blurred because of the slight welcome breeze and the fact they never stayed still for long.
However when looking through I found not only had I captured one in focus, but another which was chasing it. Really chuffed and so had to be my blip for today.

A walk through the meadow, along the delightful little river Went, through the woods which provided lovely shade on such a hot day.
Then stopped for a cool shandy at the pub in the village of Kirk Smeaton.  ( village collage)

Finished with a late picnic lunch and then I had another wander. A bit longer than anticipated as I took a short cut, but ended up going in a circle!

Now back home although had a detour as there is still trouble repairing a bridge on the A1. ( must have already taken over 2 years)

Enjoying a cuppa and will be watering the garden again after tea.
More hot weather to come!
