Aigues-Mortes
We have stayed two nights in the Camargue near the town of Aigues-Mortes. Yesterday we cycled into town along a route recommended by the campsite. It was horrendously bumpy so today we found a much better route and went to the salt pans behind the town.
We chose the shorter 12km cycle route round the site which was just as well as it was very hot. A very enjoyable ride though the salt lakes, coloured red by the algae and full of flamingos. This picture across one of the red lakes shows the salt being collected into enormous piles before going off to souvenir shops to be sold for silly prices,
We are moving on tomorrow to Provence and we have booked a campsite in Lourmarin where we stayed last year. The weather last year was a bit unsettled but this year is much better.
