More Coast
This morning we went to Hindringham Hall Gardens. This is an old Manor House that's only open Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday mornings, so this was our last chance to see it this week. The house is in the extra. We didn't get inside, and it was the owners that we paid for our entrance fee. I think his wife was serving teas. We also got to walk around some medieval fish ponds out the back of the site - probably dug (by hand!) in the twelfth century.
When we were done we drove through to Wells-Next-The-Sea and bought some croissants for lunch. After a good look at the flood defences we walked through to the beach along the top of them, and had a cup of tea. We then had a good walk along the beach looking at the various beach huts. The weather here was lovely - lots of sun, plus a cooling breeze off the sea. We returned back to the cafe through some woodland and had an expensive, though much needed, ice cream. Where the cafe is was a complete sun trap - much warmer than on the beach! Once the ice creams were safely demolished in the shade, we walked back to the car along the defences.
It was a little too early to get dinner so we stopped at Burnham Overy Staithe for a quick wander. The locals here seemed to be so used to the water in the channel, most of them seemed to be wading it to get to their boats. There were a set of three dog walkers who took their clientele through it too!
We drove through to Holt to get a pizza for dinner, and stopped at Langham Dome on the way - an anti-aircraft gunner training site. The museum here was closed but we did have a good look at the building itself.
