Day Out in London

David cooked a wonderful breakfast of egg, bacon, sausage, mushrooms and Samphire - a vegetable grown in estuaries and marshy places, tastes a bit like asparagus crossed with seaweed.

We enjoyed the 35 minute walk to Salisbury train station, and it was nice and cool on the air-conditioned train. The ride only took about an hour and 20 mins.

In London we changed to the Underground for the short ride on the Northern Line to Charing Cross and then walked to St Martin-in-the-Fields. We met up with Naomi and enjoyed a chat and a cup of tea and scone in the Crypt, while Iris was rehearsing for Evensong. Iris is a Bass-Baritone singer in the Choral Scholars 10 person Choir. It was a beautiful and moving experience! The acoustics and the voices were amazing in this extraordinary church building.

Afterwards we looked round the National Portrait Gallery. Then we met up with Katy and Ed and enjoyed an amazing Italian Dinner at Ave Mario.
We finished our meal with Amaros - mine was Amaro Averno.

Then a tired and happy train ride home and now to bed!
