Lettuce

Lots of watering to be done these days - windy and sunny and absolutely gorgeous temps in the low 70's F. I bought a new little "Black Cherry" tomato plant today to fill in a hole in my raised veggie bed. While I was down there watering and planting the tomato, this beautiful lettuce caught my eye, what with the sun catching the leaves. Blip!

You might remember that my friend Lori and I came up with the idea for a monthly supper club a couple of years ago. We carefully chose three couples to join us and decided to call it "GUTS: Get Us To Spring!" The first supper is in January and we end in June, and then have happy hours for the summer. I asked for the June date because my house is fairly small, as is my dining room table and assuming that the weather is pleasant, we can eat outdoors. I chose June 20th for the date since it's the Summer Solstice. I recently found a beautiful cast aluminum outdoor (dining table) on FaceBook Market Place that came with 6 chairs I was so excited because I could easily fit us around the table for GUTS. I bought a cool outdoor tablecloth and cushions. As the date approached, the weather looked less and less friendly. In fact, June 20 and 21 are the ONLY days that it's going to rain for weeks on either side. Grrr. No outdoor dining on the deck this Friday! So I've been trying to figure out a creative solution. More later!

Today I did most of the shopping for the dinner. I provide the main and the others bring appetizers, cocktails, sides and dessert. Now to clean the house!
