Happy Jack hike
I woke up this morning and it was chilly. I looked at my thermostat and it was 68 degrees. I thought wow, it feels a lot chillier than in the winter. Then I looked again and it was actually 58 degrees. I had several windows open and we had a cooling storm roll through. It was good sleeping weather for sure.
I got my act together and got up to Happy Jack for a hike. I can't even describe how beautiful it was up there. It is still so green and the wild flowers: pinks, light and dark purples, whites, yellows, oranges, blues and reds. And butterflies. No moose but I'm sure they are there. But you have to be up early to see them wallowing in the ponds.
I visited a little spot that I've camped before and I think I'm going to do that in a couple weeks.
My main is a Shooting Star. I had connected to the Aspen trail and it's much lusher in there with a little creek. I saw one and I ooed and awed over it then went around a corner and they were everywhere. They are one of my favorites.
My extra is one of the beaver ponds with no moose. And the second is a Western Tiger Swallowtail.
I felt so refreshed after my hike. Definitely my happy place.
