Something Fishy about Lochpark

The Drumuir and Botriphnie Community Trust fifth annual raft race took place today at Lochpark Adventure Centre by Drumuir. With a near record turnout of over 150 spectators and ten raft entries, competition was fierce as the nautical adventurers braved the summer heat to complete the half mile course in the fastest possible time.
First past the post was the two man sloop “Fishy” which sadly lost first position due to a time handicap. The addition of a sail probably meant that the craft was far too technologically advanced in any case and overall winner of the race was the brigantine “Basic Braehead” manned by Chewy and his crew who were timed at a stunning 7.45 minutes.
The skipper of the craft which took the longest time to complete the circuit wished to remain anonymous and could not confirm that his crews time of 17.4 minutes also constituted a record.
In 2012 the event raised over £416.60 for hall funds and the 2013 event looks very likely to exceed this total.

Drummuir is a small village in Scotland, in the traditional county of Banffshire, and in the Moray council area. It is between Dufftown, Keith and Huntly. Its old name was Botriphnie, and this is the name still sometimes used for the parish
