I was so lucky to visit Rapa Nui (Easter Island) in January 2004 and celebrate my birthday. It was everything and more I had dreamed of since childhood. As we flew in from Chile, we were met at the air strip with locals placing lei's around our necks, no customs or even a terminal. The stay at the Manavai hotel was a week of wonderfu staff, who were family. The island was exotic, mysterious and astounding. My favourite place ever, my most precious memory of a time of happiness and peace.
