Shade
I stayed in bed as long as I reasonably could this morning — the cough’s still hanging around, but it’s much easier to manage when I’m lying down. Outside, the heat was already building. A hot, humid Wednesday, the kind where the air isn’t moving, even indoors. I kept the shutters closed, hoping to stay cool. I forgot that I had a fan in the office. If nothing else, it bodes well for the Isle of Wight this weekend.
Once up, I headed straight for the coffee and joined the morning scrum. It was a quiet one, not much to discuss. That was followed by a much longer and more detailed planning session. I think I landed the point I’d been trying to make for a while now: that we’re better off reusing work we’ve already done rather than reinventing the wheel each time. It felt like it finally cut through.
In between all that, I caught up on some long-overdue Weeknote housekeeping and managed to publish a few missing entries. PY brought home pizza for dinner — no complaints there. We watched the final reunion episode of Race Across the World, which only made me wish there were more episodes to come. I’d love to see a proper behind-the-scenes edition too; the logistics must be wild, and it’d be fascinating to see how the embedded camera crews manage it all.
Before bed, I started putting things in a bag for the Isle of Wight. I’m not sure what I need to pack, even though this isn’t the first time. I’m trying to underpack!
