LIFE!!!

scorching

it's a hot one. I have another huge pile of wood to move to the shed, so did my daily two barrowloads as soon as I was up and dressed.

We sat in a shady spot to have our coffee and listen to a radio play, while I did some knitting (feels an odd thing  to be doing in this weather but I have a project which needs finishing).

I've been into town to the Post Office, the food shops and to get petrol for the lawnmower. It was blessedly cool inside the shops. People were talking about how good the weather will be this weekend, for Guid Nychburris (that's Good Neighbours in English) which is the big summer thing in Dumfries, with horses and parades and what not. The checkout lady had been to the Cornet's Ball last night and said it was lovely, but noisy "I'm showing my age", she said "I was Cornet's Lass in 1992". Her friend's son had been chosen to be a Lynor (one of the principals) this year and it was his first time riding a horse.

The poppies are looking lovely today. The garden is calling me but I need a cup of tea and a rest first...
