Bliss!!
Keighley Road is a brilliant road from Oxenhope to Hebden Bridge over the tops. It provides stunning views and it's a great climb, and descent.
It's been closed since June 2nd, and will remain closed for the next 4 months...reopening at the end of September. The closure is to carry out improvement works to three culverts under the road. Something that has been in the planning for many years, apparently.
There's outrage that the work is being carried out during the year of culture when huge amounts of money is being spent on events to attract visitors to the Worth Valley over the summer period...yet one of the main roads into the area is closed.
However, despite being closed to motor traffic, pedestrians and cyclists still have access. I went to nosey this evening...see extras. It was absolutely blissful. No traffic. Blue skies. Sunshine. Heat. Silence. Birds tweeting. Glorious!!
I went up one side from Oxenhope, down into Pecket Well and then turned round to come back up the other side...and return down into Oxenhope before heading back home.
Simply amazing!
