Lazy day

Today was a lazy day. We chilled in the morning and explored a bit more on Ponta Delgada. The conference started in the afternoon so I had lunch at the venue with Julian and his colleagues. I was pleased to sit next to an ex-colleague of his who is now in Oxford and with whom I get on well. 
In the afternoon, I was planning on going to visit a tea plantation but the only bus there was too late, so I stayed in Ponta Delgada, walked quite a lot, then sat at a café and watched the world go by for a while. Then I joined Julian for the conference reception. There was enough finger food there for us not to need a meal so we came back earlier.
