Quod oculus meus videt

Fire Overnight

On the walk to the swimming pool and a scene of devastation where once a large shed/garage was located. It looked like the property adjacent (in the picture) had also been damaged and the car was definitely a right off! Later I read in the Express and Star that the fire started at about 10:30 pm last night, raising the shed and garden to the ground. Eye witnesses said that flames leapt up above the adjacent house roofs.

I swam a mile non-stop (64 lengths of the 25 metre pool), something I rarely do, preferring interval training,. It allowed my mind to wander over many random thoughts. On the way home the heat was already building.

A repair job was needed for one of our Perfect Fit blinds, as the cord had come apart. The suppliers very kindly provided me with some additional cord and even offered to re-string it for me but I was confident I could do it myself. The only issue was stringing it through the pleated blind, but after some effort and the use of various sewing needles, it was done.

We’ve sat out in the garden until 9 pm tonight, allowing the cooling conditions to pervade the house, though I imagine it will be warm in the bedroom tonight.
