Wound up in Wexford

Lily

Because we've had some really hot weather this spring, it is easy to be fooled into thinking it's high summer, and expecting more summer flowers in the garden.  But it isn't even summer yet - I grew up believing that the "beginning of summer" is the 21st June!  And I see no reason to change that belief.

We planted a dozen or so lilies last year.  We also planted calla and canna.  We didn't dig up the tender bulbs, but it would seem that at least some of them have survived - leaves are appearing.  These lilies, of course, are hardy enough, and are growing well, with flowers just starting to open.

No work in the garden today - it was very hot, and we didn't have the energy.
