Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Phew!

It was warm when I got up this morning, in rather an unexpected hurry, as the appointment I'd been expecting at 10. 30 moved forward to 9.00am!
I dressed and scuttled round to the Rectory to meet the man who was going to remove the rather beautiful wasp nest which had appeared in the shed. Had it been in the garden I'd likely have left it alone but inside the shed was a different matter. We needed to claim that space. It took moments - which was in some strange way rather sad. I was glad I'd taken a picture beforehand.
I went to a friend's house next and we caught up for an hour over coffee before I went back to the Rectory for 11.
I was meeting Janet our new Rector and her husband and daughter to have a more leisurely look around than on interview day. I'm looking forward to her starting very much, I think we will all be able to work and worship together very well, she feels like a good fit. They loved the Rectory and were beginning to fit their things into the space and allocate rooms.
My next stop, and all before lunch was over to Ali's, her husband had had to go out and this is the day the girls are both at home. Colin had gone earlier and I went to help out. The girls were in good form. Bonnie is almost 18 months now and growing up so quickly. I watched her as she played with her doll for ages, she'd just picked her up and given her a big kiss here. I love watching children play without adult intervention, lost in their own special world.
I popped into Tesco for a baguette on the way home and we made ourselves a sandwich for lunch. I reverted to a favourite of mine of Philadelphia and banana, it's a rather delicious combination.
The rest of the day was hot. The thermometer shot above, admittedly in the sun, was taken at 6.30pm. I watered the garden after dinner, I think it's the first time all year but I did think that the fruit and the lawn, in particular, needed a drink.
An early night - ish!
