2025 Friday — First Day of Summer
On the longest day of the year, summer solstice, Mr. Fun & I had the good fortune of enjoying dinner with a group of fun-loving people, friends we are going to spend eternity with.
When we received a text yesterday afternoon that asked do we all want to meet at the “under new management, recently reopened” Cafe de la Via, tonight (Thursday) or Friday night or Saturday — I wanted to respond “Yes, all of those nights!” Dinner there 3 nights in a row would be fine with me.
So after a quick flurry of texts we settled on Friday night (tonight). The Cafe opens at 5:00. The line-up outside the cafe at 4:50 was impressive. Our reservation made a day ago, secured our table for eight.
We span in ages from 45 to "none of your business." Six of us are retired. This group includes a school principal, a fireman, a pastor, a nurse, an engineer/salesman, a flight attendant, and possibly a butcher, a baker, and a candlestick maker; I'm pretty sure there was not an Indian Chief in the group. All of us are transplants to the Central Coast.
I But most of all, we just had a blast . . . enjoying delicious cuisine, telling lies, and laughing a lot. Honest, we weren't telling lies (just little fibs). And so that is how summer has begun in California's Cayucos.
From California’s Central Coast,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
