Another lovely day…
mostly hot and sunny, but some cloud and some breeze some of the time! Perfect! Another survey day and this is the extreme right hand end of my kilometre square, Castle Roy, taken from its pond. The castle is a simple courtyard type, dating from the late twelfth century century, constructed for the Clan Comyn but now associated with Clan Grant.
Didn't find my beetle, but lots of interesting creatures. However, later moved to someone else’s square and found several! Here they are Anastrangalia sanguinolenta, Bloodred red Longhorn Beetle, found only in Strathspey and very rare. There were ten males and six females.
