Hot-dog
‘Dog on a cold, tile
floor’.. modern version of ‘Cat
on a hot tin roof!’
Well, that was another day. Ben had the carers and really (really) didn’t want to go. He had a big ‘to do’ over it but then pulled himself together and decided he would do it. He doesn’t have many sessions left with them now as the residential move is imminent(ish) and we’re pretty fed up with these handovers so I think on a different day we would have given in and said he didn’t have to go.. but with Older Teen finishing his exams yesterday, we’d promised to take him out to lunch and given the fact that he so often takes a back seat it felt like it was worth encouraging Ben a little bit. Also Ben was going to the Bury transport museum on the tram and it should have been right up his street, so I kind of thought he might have an OK time when he got going (spoiler alert.. he didn’t). The good news is that we managed to eat all our dinner and we were just chatting round the table when the carers called to say there had been behaviour incidents and the duty manager recommended they bring him home. Understandable. Mr KCNQ2Haiku and Older Teen went to the cinema to continue the ‘Older teen’ day and I waited for Ben. The carers were very pleased to drop him back at home so I think they must have had a pretty difficult day. His insulin pump had also been knocked during some of the drama so he wasn’t getting insulin for an hour or two which meant his bloods were a bit out of control but I managed to get them going in the right direction. After the others got back from the cinema Ben knocked his insulin pump again and was really angry and aggressive about it, Mr KCNQ2Haiku took the brunt of it so he’s a bit deflated.. and that’s our day.. you try to do the best you can but sometimes everything goes a bit wrong. Also, it’s still very hot despite the mini showers we’ve had, I’m hoping for more serious rainfall overnight to refresh us all!
