Ups And Downs

One of those days.

Our original plan was to drive to Selsey Bill but traffic jams put paid to that idea. We had to do a three point turn again and decided to drive to Bognor Regis, which was the only road which wasn't at a standstill.

When we arrived some roads were closed as it was their Armed Forces Day too. At least I got a couple of images for my blip. The three girls in the main blip went through a full repertoire of 1940s wartime songs. There were very good, but I made a hasty retreat when they started looking for men to dance to Knees Up Mother Brown with them.

Bognor is rather run down though. The small pier has seen better days but I got a rare (for me) Derelict Sunday entry. (second extra).

Then, much to our surprise we had some rain, quite heavy at times.

So we drove on to Pagham, which I wanted to check out as there were a few properties there when I was looking for a holiday cottage a few weeks ago. The rain had stopped by now but it felt quite chilly.

So we didn't hang about but drove on for a mooch around Chichester. By now it was warming up again. I managed to get my sensor cleaned in a very quiet London Camera Exchange! The guy did it in 15 minutes while I waited. Everyone has gone to the  beach he said.

We thought it would be nice to visit the cathedral but would you believe it - it was closed, due to unforeseen circumstances! I got an outside shot of course. We chatted (or rather didn't chat) to a Ukrainian lady outside. She had little or no English, while we of course had absolutely no Ukrainian.

We were really hot again by now so popped into a café for a cold drink. We had just settled in when the waitress came over and told us they were now closed. Greggs however saved the day with some very nice chilled offerings.

Back in the hotel again, after a nice meal in the pub nearby. There are still lots of wedding guests about after a reception here this afternoon.

We have booked to go to Portchester Castle tomorrow. It wasn't in the Gardeners' World 2 for 1 scheme though. No gardens I suppose.
