Goosegogs

These were a few of my meagre crop of Gooseberries, taken this morning. I only have one gooseberry bush which was moved earlier this year and has been sadly neglected.
I had forgotten until today that as a child we used to refer to gooseberries as goosegogs. My mother was well thought of for her delicious raspberry trifles and gooseberries tarts. Over time though the pastry on the tarts became thicker and harder to digest. When invited to have some we would invariably state how full-up we were already and politely request a very small slice!
