If you can't beat them...

Male Blackbird ( Turdus merula )

Not a brilliant photo but there were extenuating circumstances.  I have been making some perches to give a bit more variety in the garden bird shots.  As yet I haven't decided exactly where I will place them.

When I got up this morning our friendly "blackie" (as we called them in my youth" was waiting for his breakfast.  So I went out and sat on the patio a d drew him to with in a foot by providing dried mealworms.  Actually it wasn't his breakfast as everytime he got a beakful he flew off into the berberis.  Quickly coming back.  Before his third visit to the bush a fledgeling appeared.  Then they both flew off.

Having gon eback inside and got the kettle on I looked out of the window and there he was on top of one of the perches.  I grabbed the camera and changed the lens, hoping against hope he would stay there.  He is the first bird I have seen on one of the perches.  So I fired off a few quick shots never thinking about what my settings were!

The result several totally unusable shot and this one.  So I am stuck with it.
