First New Town

While much of the rest of the country had heat, Edinburgh had sea mist all day and rain in the afternoon.

Fetched a paper in the morning. Blip is one the first buildings in the New Town, architect James Craig. Now next to the St James Quarter.

Afternoon trip by tram to Balgreen, then walked through Saughton Gardens to the Water of Leith. Lots of good herbaceous planting in the gardens. There are raspberries growing wild at the edges of the Saughton allotments.  We went up the steps to the canal, and back in.
Not too many cyclists, especially for a Saturday afternoon. Stopped at the canalside opposite the boathouse, to talk to A & R. Boathouse and Dragon boat . The rain came on heavily while we were there and we were glad to shelter under the Canal Society's canopies.

The rain eased up, we walked along to Polworth, got a no 27 bus back to the New Town.

In the late evening we watch Spirit of Tasmania IV coming back in to Leith dock. She's been doing sea trials after repairs, scooting around sometimes at 26 knots in the N Sea off Newcastle.
