Sgwarnog: In the Field

After yesterday’s full day just spent a quiet day at home, with an extended walk out through my local woods and meadows in the afternoon. We had light rain, but it was quite refreshing being out in that.

There was quite a good variety of butterflies despite the rain, including a large count of 86 Ringlets in one meadow. Large Skipper, Small Tortoiseshell, Speckled Wood, Meadow Brown, Large White, Small White, Small Heath, Red Admiral and Small Skipper (main image) were also about in various locations and quantities.

I followed some more of the tennis from Nottingham from the TV, with extended rain delays making me glad I’d been there on Friday rather than Saturday.

I also finished reading Louise Erdrich’s ‘The Night Watchman’ which is fabulous. I read a lot of her books during the 90s, but haven’t been keeping up the more recent stuff, it may be time for me to fill in the gaps.
