Click!...
This Eastern Eyed Click Beetle, Alaus oculatus, choose a window screen as a temporary resting place. And just to get all of the 'scary' stuff out of the way...they aren't harmful/poisonous to humans or pets. They may however nip the hand that treats them roughly. Those two huge 'eyes' are not eyes at all, but only a defense to frighten away predators. The adults (like this one) consume nectar and plant juices. The larval stage gobble up as many wood-boring beetle larvae as they can find. Eastern Eyed Click Beetles can reach a length of 1.0 - 1.8in (25-45mm) and are found in forests of Central and North America. And...on our window screen.
