Good Question, But It's Not Your Business To Know
As we gathered at FBC this morning to worship and offer up our praises to God, the skies above were blue with little white patches of clouds here and there that held no rain, and gave little protection from the summer sun. At least we didn't get triple digit temperatures today, but they will arrive soon enough. Meanwhile, we were grateful to have a comfortable place to gather as we started our service with a congregational song. That song was followed by the welcome from Pastor Wes,who was back in the pulpit this week. After the welcome, we were blessed to witness another baptism by McGinty which was then followed by the choir, orchestra, and all our dedicated accompanists in a confident rendition of "Never Once", an anthem that reminds us that once we put our trust in God, He never leaves us, but is always present to lead us and guide us through all the ups and downs of life. The congregation sang a few more songs, before Pastor Wes Turned our attention back into the first chapter of Acts. He reminded us that the disciples of Jesus lived in uncertain times, just as we are living in uncertain times today and they asked Jesus, if this was the time when Israel would be restored. Jesus told them that they didn't need to know all the details of God's plan, but that they should focus on what Jesus had already told them to do----to spread the good news of Jesus, starting with where they were and pushing outward to the very ends of the earth as they knew it! They were told to go and wait for the Holy Spirit to fill them with power, so they went and gathered in an upper room and prayed earnestly until the Holy Spirit came upon them and gave them power to do the job that they had been given. We also are living in difficult times and our world needs Jesus more than ever, so we should take a note from the disciples and pray earnestly that God would show us what we need to do to reach them. Pastor Wes had much more to say and you can find it all in the Live-stream. We don't have to know all the details, we just need to let God tell us the next right thing to do----and do it!
