Emergency Bean Blip
I planned to wander around the garden in the afternoon sunshine to find a Blip. But I was thwarted by a batch of cream that I was churning into butter, which took forever ...until I realised that it had gone past the congealing point.
I had been whisking it too fast (impatient) and the only thing to do when that happens is to pour the lot through a cheese cloth to drain off the buttermilk. It doesn't affect the end product: it's just a bit more fiddly.
So beautiful Bean came to my rescue for today's Blip. You can probably surmise that once the sun went down the temperature dropped quickly, and blankets were needed.
The reason for my impatience with the butter wasn't only because I wanted to find a garden Blip, but also because I had crackers to bake and then cheeses to select, cut, taste-test and pack up for my friend F's birthday. The selection needs to go into the post tomorrow. She is already on tenterhooks...
The day seems to have whooshed past; largely I think because my mind has been distracted thanks to yesterday's bombing. I read a Blip earlier in which the Blipper (I'm sorry, I can't find it again and can't remember who it was) expressed a feeling similar to that which we in the UK felt when Thatcher declared war on Argentina over the Falkland Islands in 1982. I remember that day clearly. Complete disbelief and a whole new world of uncertainty to get used to.
