Music in the church

Yesterday at the music festival I was playing in Band 2 at St. Alkman's Church in Whitchurch.  We played some local dance tunes from old manuscrips from the 1800s which some of our band had discovered and transcribed. We finished the morning with a tune called "The Whitchurch Hornpipe" which was apt.

The church is beautiful and had wonderful accoustics.  There were a few extras such as S and M playing a duet of fiddle and pipes as they walked around the church and a fiddler played a solo from the minstrels gallery.  It was a lovely occasion.

I went to a session later then in the evening was playing the piano at another one.

The extra photo is of Lynette and Joe Eldon.  She is a champion clog dancer and he is a fiddler, dancer and singer.  They did some dances at the sessions.
