Discovering the magic of a shell …

Like most little ones, Lili wakes up early, though after yesterday’s zoo adventure she actually sleeps until after 6.00am.

We’ve lost the humidity of yesterday, replaced by a warm breeze, and at least the morning stays with broken sunshine. Daniel and Solveig decide to take Lili down onto the beach, so by 7.30 we’re down on the prom, before making onto Colwyn Bay’s extensive crescent of golden sand. Needless to say, it’s very quiet at this time; others are mostly dog walkers or joggers.

Shoes off, it’s down to the sea for a paddle, the water refreshing rather than bone-chilling, and Lili loves it - for a while at least! Then there’s playing in the sand with her brightly coloured array of sand toys - though the breeze makes playing in dry sand a little hazardous for eyes!

It’s a great way to start the day - and I tell myself I should do this far more often, though in reality I suspect I’m unlikely to do so unless my energy levels suddenly increase!

So it’s back home for breakfast- prepared by G who opted out of the early beach excursion!

Many thanks for the kind response to yesterday’s zoo selection- especially for the hearts. It was an intensive day of photography and I was pleased to read that people felt the shots did not look as if they’d been taken in a zoo as with the exception of the butterflies, everything had to be taken through metal fencing or often slightly grubby Perspex viewing screens!
