Meles

Namaste!

Had a series of minor but tedious messages to acquire on Princes St - however, I noticed when I passed that something was going to happen at the Ross Bandstand (extra) and when I got to the Mound I encountered a wonderful, noisy procession. Trumpets, cymbals, drums, bright colours, monks, military.....and ....it just had to be Nepali. Turns out it was the Nepali Mela. What joy. They were preceded by a piper in full highland rig. Photos were a bit rubbish as it was very crowded - this was the only one with all the leading ladies in. Fourth from the camera is the wee-est one who was wearing an amazing gold hat.

I only spent a week in Nepal about forty years ago, but this took me right back. I tried my namaste on one of their security detail which got an immediate response of 'Namaste!' and a huge smile. Love 'em.
