Free Library

I had to drop someone off for an appointment this afternoon in Whitchurch, a suburb in the north of Cardiff. Whilst waiting, I visited the local library where I took this photo.

It was built in 1904, and is classed as a Carnegie library, being built with money donated by the Scottish-American philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. Over 2500 libraries were built between 1883 and 1929 with money from the Carnegie foundation. The majority of them were in the USA, but over 600 were built in the UK and Ireland.

I do love a good library, and it's nice to know it's still going strong after all these years.
