Hellbrunn

The Baroque palace of Hellbrunn was built by the Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg in 1613-19 as a summer residence. It is famous for its water gardens, which sprinkle unwary visitors. During the visit, we were issued with audio commentary devices and then were warned that they were not waterproof. I am unsure whether that was satire or just daft.

The day we were there, a rally of vintage cars was taking place. This added to our sense of exploration because, with no prior announcement, the bus services back to the City were drastically rerouted because the roads were closed for the rally. What fun!
