‘Quiet Resilience’

The baby coots that appeared on the pond around the middle of last month sadly disappeared shortly afterwards. They were no doubt prey to the local heron or to the many gulls that swoop around. Undeterred, however, their parents quickly set about having another go. 

Over a month on, the nest looks a really well-established home, and there won’t be long to wait now!

Meanwhile, two similar nests have sprung up. Like the original one, they are in full view of - and no more than a few meters from - the shore, but retain a respectful distance from each other! (Extras)
