midwife crisis

Trip to London with Dad for the 70th and last class reunion of his school pals from Ilford Boys Grammar school (Class of 1955). Ed, Brian, John, Dennis, dad ( and me) . What an intellectual and interesting group of men, I was made to feel so welcome, they’re gentlemen of a different era . I wished I’d met them more often, they’d had such interesting lives and all done very well for themselves in life. A professor at CERN , a marine architect, tax death duties expert and can’t remember the other one, that says more about me than them ! And they all did National Service. Hated it mind you !
Dad coped very well with the journey , walking and taking the stairs . We took the train from Chelmsford to Liverpool St and Elizabeth line underground because he’d never been on it, we never stopped chatting and he didn’t fall asleep or wobble at all. I’m so glad I’ve stayed in a couple of extra days otherwise I’d have missed this lovey day and my mother would have worried herself half to death at him going alone .
