Tête d’Aval
The cloudless hot forecast warranted a walk in the woods. From the chalet we climbed up through the Bois de Parapin trees, mostly Scots pine with a few oaks. After 90minutes we reached a rudimentary shelter, the Cabane Marcellin for a short break.
Behind the Cabane is the huge limestone cliff face in the picture, lots of bolted climbing routes up there.
After filling up at a spring surrounded by orchids, we descended the zigzags through more trees lining the side of a dry gorge. Some massive house-sized boulders in the gully.
