If you can't beat them...

Greenfinches ( Chloris chloris )

There seems to be a family dispute going on.  All three birds are Greenfinches.  The one on the feeder is a this year's youngster.  Clearly it doesn't want to allow Mum or Dad chance to use that perch.  For a while now we haven't had any Greenfinches visiting the feeders.  Suddenly they are back in good numbers.  The numbers are pleasing as Greenfinches have suffered badly from the parasite causing Trichomonosis.

Trichomonosis is one of the reasons that feeders need regularly cleaned as if an infected bird has used them they become a source of infection for other birds.  Weekly cleaning is recommended.  The breeding population is down by nearly 70%.

Greenfinch always bicker both among themselves and with other birds so I thought it would be a good opportunity to try for shots of flying birds.
