Kilmodan Acre
I can't remember the last time I posted a panorama , but I took this today because I was , along with another member of the community, trying to work out where we might site another community and tourist information board.
The one at Cointraive which I was involved in producing earlier this year has not elicited the criticism I was expecting , community effort seeming, from time to time, to produce an equal and opposite reaction.
In fact, having seen it, people at the Glendaruel end of ColGlen has suggested there should be another one here on what is called the "Kilmodan Acre" , an area that includes the ColGlen Shinty pitch, in the middle of this picture , with the Children's Playpark to the left and the ColGlen Growers poly tunnel to the right .
I am a trustee of the Kilmodan Acre charity and we had hoped to bring together the three bits of land that go to make it up - one owned by the Council, one community owned and one being a part of the Kirk glebe - into a single ownership and empower the users to manage it. However the Kirk is refusing to sell , so we are now looking for other ways of taking the idea forward. In addition the local Development Trust is seeking to install to EV points here as there are none in the Glen , and only two at Colintraive.
So watch these spaces which are incidentally part of a wooden shelter erected here by the Community Development Trust during the pandemic to allow socially distanced mixing. There is another one at Colintraive.
