Goat's Beard

I so much enjoyed the walk on Watership Down and surrounding area on Monday that I went for a shorter verion today with S.

We spotted this beautiful seed head. ChatGPT says it's "Goat's Beard (genus Tragopogon), often mistaken for a giant dandelion. It belongs to the aster family (Asteraceae) and is notable for its large, spherical seed head made up of parachute-like seeds."
