Martha

I drove to Tampere with Emma, first we went to see Helinä Hukkataival's performance. We had coffee in the Pala Cafe, then Emma bought some nail gels and nail decoration stuff. We also visited Ratina and Veska.

Hukkataival crocheted in the character of Martha in the Finlayson area, in the Siperia building. Martha's character is modest and performs simple, ritual-like actions. Hukkataival's Martha series follows the teachings of Saint Birgitta: to become Mary, you must first be Martha. Spirituality manifests itself as serving others. Small chores are just as important as sermons, prayers and a pious life.
