Sad Eyes

Mrs CBL and I had a very enjoyable visit to Newburgh today.  I was hoping to take photos of the seals that are based there but to my surprise there were none there!  Usually they are there in their hundreds but the haul-out area on the banks of the Ythan estuary where they spend their time onshore was now ‘colonised’ by eider ducks (see extra).

Further along the shoreline I saw a few seals and one, obligingly, swam to the water’s edge close enough for me to take a few photos of it before heading back out towards into the North Sea.

We had a lovely walk along the beach as the sun began to break through the clouds as the day warmed up.  Hopefully next time we visit the estuary ‘normal service’ will be resumed.

Even bigger eyes when viewed in the large setting (obviously!).
