Hover fly

Been sitting by the pond taking pictures of Hover flies for a project. 
While sitting there I noticed a curled up leaf in the (not very clear) pond (extra) and wondered if it might have been made by a newt to lay spawn. While sitting I noticed another newt curling up a small loose lily pad, so think it must be the case. Will have to keep looking for more!
