Best Foot Forward

I met a consultant today to discuss the results from the biopsy on 23 May. It turns out the growths are cancerous and high grade, meaning they grow quickly. Standard protocol for such cases is to do another biopsy to try to get a sample from the bladder wall, to check if it has spread. The biopsy is scheduled for Saturday 28 June - I’m relieved they are on it and acting quickly.

If it hasn’t spread, they wait four weeks for the bladder to heal and then apply chemotherapy locally once a week for six weeks. If it has spread, the response is more drastic. Fingers crossed it hasn’t spread any further.

It’s taken me a little time to get my head around this, not helped by having a particularly busy time at work. I guess I feel a combination of scared and reassured; scared that it had come back after three and a half years, and reassured that there’s a plan in place and they are wasting no time.

Fingers crossed.
