Carnsew Timber Store and Drying Shed now Jewson's
I went to Hayle with B today for the lunchtime concert which was excellent, as were the sausage rolls and coffee at Philp's afterwards.
My picture shows the former Harvey's Carnsew Timber Store and Drying Shed (it's now a branch of Jewson's). During the mid to late 19th century, the heyday of Harvey's Foundry, the company had an extensive complex of buildings on Hayle Wharves; this one survives and is Grade II listed. It's built of granite and bricks and the ventilation holes in the brickwork, to keep the timber in good condition, can clearly be seen.
