Whitewater hotel and dolly blue

We drove to Backbarrow.
Had a walk with Robbie then into  Cafe Ambio. The quiet corner seats were empty so perfect for us . Robbie was ok today.. no barking. We had coffee and cake and he had his 'packed lunch.

Blip is of the  Whitewatee hotel, which was once part of the Dolly blue works.  Dolly blue was an additive for washing powder which was used particularly  when washing white fabrics to stop them yellowing. The blue was a deep ultramarine  powder.

I remember as a child holding my nose when we went past as the smell was awful. All the workers were tinged in  bright blue.  Health and safety would have a field day nowadays.
