A study in contrasts. The beautiful flower and the sand for construction.
It’s a bit like what I have so far seen in Romania. Historic town centers are beautifully reconstructed and painted. The newly built highways are great to drive. But once you step outside of that bubble you have grey houses, sidewalks (if there are any) in disrepair and villages that have nothing but the main road full of traffic and trucks and cars going by.
It’s beautiful in its own way, but there are many spots that could do better. Today on the cemetry I rescued a hedgehog that had its head stuck in the left over plastic from a candle. Awareness for the environment seems lacking. Same for health and safety. On construction sites people hardly wear any protection equipment. There are probably other examples I could come up with, but that were just the most stark today.
But it also shows how high the standard of living is in Germany and how grateful I can be to be able to live there.
